Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.
This represents his maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since March of the previous year.
Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.
Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved service.
He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.
Moutet defended four early opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
